Today we made a trip into Bamburg. Just as historic, and not nearly as touristy as Rothenberg, we enjoyed seeig the Cathedral, which houses not only two altars, one each from some of the most famous German artists (late 1400’s), the Bamburg riders (stone carving from the 1200’s – original), and a relic from THE cross…pretyy darn impressive. We strolled the streets, checked out “little Venice”, and enjoyed a smoked beer from a very famous brewery.
In the evening, Verena invited her friends Mimi, Peter, and Christian over for a “game night”. We ended up playing charades, which was a lot of fun and given the langauge differences, actually worked out really great (although Verena’s friends all speak English so well!). It was such great party with snacks (Germany chocolate), wine, beer, music…I couldn’t imagine a nicer send-off…except we are not quite ready to leave.
